Dilley Welcome
PARENT NEWSLETTER
Dear Dilley Families,
I am excited to start another year as a Dilley Dolphin. Every staff member at Dilley is looking forward to meeting your child, or children, and providing them with a one of a kind educational experience at Dilley. Our focus will be to meet the needs of every student in the pursuit of academic excellence for all, while also creating a strong community that learns and grows together. Let's Go Dolphins!
Make sure to log on to our web page (www.fgsd.k12.or.us –click on Schools, and find our page) throughout the year. You will find calendar information, newsletters, announcements, district policies and other information about the school. We look forward to seeing you at all our events this year.
Warmly,
John Allen
Principal
Here are a few frequently asked questions:
Where can I get information about what is happening at Dilley?
Every month, a Parent Newsletter will be sent to all families through an app called Parent Square. This app is vital, and will provide families with communication from the school as well as from your child's teacher. The Parent Newsletter will also be posted on our website every month.
When will the class list be posted?
Class lists are posted on the window at the main entrance to Dilley on August 26th.
Where can I find the school supply list?
Go to the FGSD website and click on "Schools" and then "Dilley". The supply list is located on the front page-Recent News and under the Parent tab. You can also come in and pick up a hard copy with the same information.
When is the first day of school?
The first day of school for 1st-4th graders is September 3rd.
The first day of school for Kindergarten students is September 4th.
Will we have "Late Start" Wednesdays?
Yes, but not the first Wednesday of the school year. The first Wednesday of the year, September 4th, will be a regular school which starts at 9:00 am and ends at 3:15. Every Wednesday after will be "Late Start", which means the day will start at 10:00 and end at 3:15.
When is the Back to School BBQ?
The annual Back to School BBQ is on August 28th, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Students and families may drop off supplies, meet the teachers, and enjoy free food with other families and staff. There will also be Kona Ice that can be purchased as an extra treat. Our PTO will have Dilley gear for sale and we invite you to ask and become a part of this fantastic group of parents that support our Dilley school community.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Our PTO is the best! Please reach out to our Dilley PTO at [email protected], if you are interested in volunteering to support our school. We are also looking for a Dilley parent who would be interested in serving on our Building Site Council (BSC). The Building Site Council is made up of parents, teachers and staff. Their purpose is to help plan, implement and review the School Improvement Plan for our building. The School Improvement Plan addresses our improvement goals in the areas of Literacy, Mathematics, School Climate and Safety. Parents who serve on this council will be asked to attend a monthly, one-hour meeting from September through May. If you are interested you can nominate yourself by contacting me at 503-359-2493 or e-mail [email protected]
