Principal's Message 2026-2027 School Year
Dear Dilley Students, Families, and Community,
As I begin my 14th year as a principal, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue doing the work that I deeply value, which is supporting Dilley students, families, staff, and community.
Our school is a place where we believe every student can learn, grow, and succeed. This year, we will continue to build a school culture centered on high expectations, strong relationships, and a genuine commitment to meeting the needs of every child.
Our work will remain focused on three important priorities: academic excellence, social-emotional learning, and growth for every student. We will challenge students to become confident readers, writers, mathematicians, thinkers, and problem-solvers while also helping them develop the resilience, empathy, responsibility, and sense of belonging they need to thrive.
Academic excellence means more than achieving a particular score. It means knowing each student well, understanding where they are academically, providing the support or challenge they need, and helping them make meaningful progress. Every student deserves to experience success and to know that the adults at school believe in their potential.
Just as importantly, we know that children learn best when they feel safe, valued, connected, and known. Our commitment to social-emotional learning will help students build positive relationships, navigate challenges, make responsible decisions, and develop the skills they need both in school and in life.
After 14 years, one thing has become increasingly clear to me, and that is great schools are built through strong partnerships. Our teachers and staff cannot do this work alone. The partnership between school, families, and our community is essential to helping children reach their full potential.
I am proud to serve the Dilley community and excited about the year ahead. Together, we will celebrate successes, learn from challenges, and support one another. Together we will focus on helping every student grow, achieve, and become the very best version of themselves. Together we are better.
Thank you for your continued trust, partnership, and support. I look forward to another outstanding year together.
Warmly,
John Allen
